Skin Tags On Eyelids

Skin tags, just as their name suggests, are conditions on the skin that are caused by the friction that occurs when the skin rubs against itself or against clothes. Unlike many other types of growths that occur on the skin, these are completely benign and non-cancerous. They may appear on any part of the body especially on the fold where a lot of friction occurs.

One of the parts of the body that is known is to experience a lot of friction are the eyelids. This is mainly because of the movements that occur as you open and close your eyes as well as the many folds on them. Therefore, it is not such a surprise to have skin tags on eyelids. The chances of them developing in obese individuals are higher because of more friction as the eyes open and close.

So, how should skin tags on eyelids be addressed? Although benign, they definitely cannot be left alone to always protrude from the eye. This is uncomfortable and irritating, and in some cases can impair the vision if the skin tag grows to be quite large. They therefore should be removed as soon as possible.

Removing skin tags that are on the eyelid is a bit tricky because this is one very sensitive region of the body. If you are not careful, you could end up harming the eyes and perhaps even causing blindness. It is thus advisable that you consult a dermatologist as soon as you notice a skin tag around that region.

He or she would be in the best position to know how to address it. One of the methods that would be suitable in removing such a tag is cryotherapy. In this, the dermatologist will use liquid Nitrogen to freeze the skin tags hence killing the cells within them. This in turn causes them to disintegrate and fall off.

The dermatologist could also opt for the use of an electric current by passing it through the skin tags and instantly killing the cell tissue. On doing that, it automatically detaches from the skin and falls off.

Do you know you can also remove skin tags at home? However, you have to be very careful and have someone do it for you because you will have your eyes closed and it is not possible for you to carry such a procedure on yourself.
