These three infections that appear on the top layer of skin may seem similar but they are all different. A mole, also referred to as nevi or scientifically as melanocytic nevus, is a dark growth and like the wart or skin tag, is benign. A wart, which almost looks like a blister, is a rough non cancerous growth and a skin tag is a soft, loosely hanging growth that is also referred to as fibro epithelial polyp. It is important to mention that although the growths are benign, moles can sometimes worsen, especially if exposed to too much sun, which can lead to melanoma or skin cancer.
